“The year is 1900. In a small and dozy town, located in the heart of America on the edge of a deep forest, people disappear under mysterious circumstances. A young boy of low ancestry discovers the plans of an occult sect and falls into its clutches, along with his best friend. Both of their lives, and those of the other abducted people, are hanging by a thread, while the assassins are sharpening their blades.
To save his friends, he makes an ominous pact…”
„Several years passed since the two best friends, Edward Eerievale and Andrew Hardwick, saw each other. The young men celebrate their reunion and plan a sea journey together, one last big adventure, before family, profession and responsibility define their lives.
They don't suspect that in the shadows, an adversary they long believed to be dead, learned of their journey plans and is summoning dark forces to execute a vicious plan for vengeance.
In a thunderous storm, the ship sinks. Edward and Andrew are washed to a strange shore, seemingly as the only surviviors.
The dark place holds unknown dangers, they have no other choice as to fight for their survival and find the only way home.“
About the novel volumes
After several publications in print and online media, the gothic fantasy* novel “Eerievale” represents the most extensive and ambitious project by Lars Hannig, so far.
By 2006, he had written a manuscript covering 510 pages to explore the novel’s setting and to become more familiar with the characters. The aim was to find the real story, waiting to be told.
After earning his game design degree and the conclusion of several other projects, the author eventually found his way back to novel writing... he was ready to bring Eerievale to life, at last.
In November 2009 he met the challenge and wrote down the raw version of the first volume of Eerievale in course of the NaNoWriMo contest.
The first volume is approaching second draft stage. It still is a long way until the final version will be finished. But with every step taken, the goal gets a little closer.
In November 2010 he started to write the second volume of Eerievale. About a third of this volume was written down in course of the NaNoWriMo contest.
Next to the German version, an English translation of the novel will be considered, given there is enough interest.
